Cambridge/IGCSE

Overview/Guiding Principle

The Cambridge programme at Anan is predicated on the idea of diversity, choice and flexibility, and is designed to emphasize students’ strengths. It aims to set global standards for education, with levels that stretch, challenge and inspire learners. The vision is to not merely to teach what is in the books but nurture and encourage students to become:

The Cambridge programme is being introduced in the upcoming academic year 2022-23 for the age group 5 to 11 years (Cambridge Primary) and will eventually cater to children from the age of 5 to 19 (till IGCSE, and Cambridge International AS and A Levels).

The Cambridge Pathway

CAMBRIDGE PRIMARY

Cambridge Primary starts learners on an exciting educational journey, helping them to become confident, responsible, reflective, innovative and engaged. It provides a broad and balanced education to young learners, enabling them to grow organically throughout their schooling, work and life.

With ten subjects to choose from, including English, Mathematics and Science, the Primary Programme lays excellent foundations for the next stage of learning, besides providing opportunities to develop creativity, expression and the pursuit of excellence.

The curriculum is flexible, and can be adapted to suit the context, culture and ethos of the learners. The broad range of subjects appeals to learners from diverse backgrounds and prepares them to progress through the Cambridge Pathway in an age-appropriate manner. They encourage learners to understand their own culture, community and identity within the wider world. The academic activities centre on global perspectives which can be applied in local contexts.

CAMBRIDGE LOWER SECONDARY

The Cambridge Primary segues into Cambridge Lower Secondary. Typically for students aged 11 to 14 years, Cambridge Lower Secondary centres on academic goals that matter most to our schools, and learners around the world. It provides a stimulating and varied curriculum, which challenges and inspires students to be lifelong learners.  Each subject at Cambridge Lower Secondary has a curriculum framework with progression grids indicating what comes before and after. The sequencing of learning aligns from stage to stage, so that students become familiar with content and skills from the previous stage, and are well prepared for the next. Every learning objective is reviewed through the lens of curriculum, teaching, learning and assessment. Aligning these four areas puts learners in the best possible position for the future and leads to a richer learning experience.
